Wise USD account details unavailable for American ME
Hi everyone,
I am a newly-registered micro-entrepreneur from the US and I’m having some issues setting up my Wise accounts. I’m posting to see if anyone had similar issues or if I’ve gone about this incorrectly.
My primary client is in the US and pays me in USD. My understanding is that it is best to avoid using my US-based personal account to receive funds for my French business, so I decided to open a business account with Wise. I wanted to provide the Wise USD account details to my client for payments. I chose the business account because their website says that you are not allowed to open a personal account for business purposes.
I opened a primary EUR business account with Wise and added a secondary USD account. I received the EUR account details immediately. However, it has been 2 weeks and I have not received USD account details. I’ve talked to customer service multiple times, but I cannot access the USD account details despite their insistence that the details are available and I am properly verified. When I call, they just tell me to keep waiting while they escalate my case, but there has been no resolution.
Questions:
1. Did I do this wrong? When I set up the Wise account, I thought that I should put EUR as primary, and USD as secondary, since I intended to receive USD funds, transfer the USD to EUR and then link the Wise EUR account to my Credit Agricole bank account.
2. Has anyone else experienced issues getting USD account details from Wise? Since my business is in France, I put my French address on the Wise accounts. Initially, the issue seemed to be my French residency but US passport. I had to provide multiple additional verification documents for the USD account.
I’m beyond frustrated and feeling it may be best to close the accounts with Wise and find another service. I would appreciate any advice others may have on this! Thank you!
