Whom should I be contacting to follow up my social security number?

I’ve registered as an auto-entrepreneur but still haven’t received my social security number. I have received all other bits of information, just not the number. I have since gained fulltime employment in France and I will be signing the contract this week, they have asked for my social security Number. Will I need it to sign the contract? Whom should I be contacting to follow up?
