What’s the best way to register a gite business in France?

We have taken advice from a local accountant who has recommended we set our new gite business up on the micro system. It will be our only source of income and we want to ensure we correctly pay our taxes and cotisations and get into the health system accordingly.

We have contacted the local Chamber of Commerce to register the business, who informed us running a gite business is classified as civil and not commercial, consequently all we have to do is inform the centre des impots. We are aware of the requirement to notify the local mairie. How will the centre des impots register our gite business? Will this be as an auto-entrepreneur under the micro system and likewise will this get us into the health and tax regimes in France?
