What is the tax on selling second hand goods?

Am I right in understanding that if I sell a second hand car that I pay at 12%. What is the situation regarding purchasing a second hand gearbox and selling it on to a customer with their knowledge? Can I also put this in the same catagory or will I have to pay the full 21.3%. Do I have to pay 0.3% on the full amount received or is it just a single payment per quarter payment to RSI.
