What do I need to do to declare my income yearly?

I currently pay my income tax quarterly with my social charges, as I don’t earn very much I would like to change this to declare my income on the yearly tax forms. Is this straight forward to do? I would like the change to be from the 1st January, should I do it now or in the new year? Also will this change have an effect on anything else?
