What are these cotisations for?

I registered as an auto-entrepreneur in Dec 2012. I have since June opened a SARL and therefore have to shut down my auto-entrepreneur business. I have recently received my appel de cotisations for the last 2 trimesters of 2013, for about 2000 euros. What are the cotisations for? Do I need this even though I have private insurance through a mutuelle?
