Type of bank account for auto-entrepreneur?

On setting up my auto-entrepreneur business in France, I opened a new bank account in my name at a local bank as I knew I would be paying cash in on a regular basis. My personal account was a joint one with my husband and no longer near where we live. The bank informed me that I had no choice but to open a business account and couldn’t use a personal account, and the charges are very expensive.
Having now read your answers to other queries on your forum it seems that I’ve been misled. Can I go back to the bank and insist it is changed to a personal account? And what if they refuse?
