TVA between EU countries and auto-entrepreneurs?

As the French auto-entrepreneur business regime seems not like the best way to do things, I am looking into starting a similar arrangement in my home country. Most of my clients would be French, and thus I would need to know how the TVA system works.

So I talked with the tax officials of my country and they said that in the event of me billing a company, they need to be TVA registered and they will pay and declare the TVA here in France. In case of billing individuals, I would collect and declare the VAT in my country.

However, there are few things I don’t understand.

  1. Would the company pay TVA for buying my services even if I was an auto entrepreneur business in France?
  2. Or is the French auto-entrepreneur system completely TVA free?
  3. In other words, would I be in a different position in terms of TVA when selling services to a business than an auto-entrepreneur in French system?
  4. What happens if I want to bill a French auto-entrepreneur business as they are not TVA registered? How do French auto-entrepreneurs bill each other and take care of TVA?
