Tax liability on cash gifts from family into French bank account?

In 2011 my parents gave me 5000 euros towards the renovation of our house. My accountant has asked about this income as it appears on our bank statements and I do not have a separate bank account for my auto-entrepreneur business. Do you know how much money can be gifted per year from parents without having tax/social charges liability? And does this figure need to be declared in any form?
