Smart ways to put business expenses through a micro-enterprise in France?

A fellow micro-entrepreneur in the same business as mine (sport coaching) has advised having a micro-entrepreneur with an association set up on the side to set off business expenses like education, travel and equipment.

She mentioned that the association is not to make money but just to claim back on some of the larger one-off expenses. I plan to invest in my business this year (the investment for 2017 = 2016 turnover) and was interested to know:

Are there any smart (and legal) ways to put expenses through a micro-entrepreneur business without having to move into a Enterprise Individuelle or société à responsabilité limitée (SARL) business in France?
