Should I pay RSI contributions when receiving a Britsh pension?

I am a British born male who is resident in France. I have a Carte Vitale, I am registered with the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce and I have a Siret. I pay contributions to RSI and when at the age of 65 I became eligible for my UK state pension I notified RSI. Initially they told me that I would have my contributions reduced because I would no longer need to make pension contributions but this does not seem to be the case.

Is it the case that even though I am now over 65 receiving my UK state pension that I still have to pay pension contributions to RSI? I can understand that as I’m still working, I have a bed and breakfast, that I should pay health contributions but why pension?  Will I get a Pension from the French State when I declare that I no longer wish to work? I have asked these questions of RSI but the answers I have received have been contradictory, confusing and vague.
