Should I cancel or change auto-entrepreneur status?

I arrived in France last April and registered as an auto-entrepreneur in order to work as an independent PR consultant. However, I haven’t found any new business and my final contract is finishing at the end of April. I am now working on an unpaid writing project (for my family). I am planning to re-train as an English teacher in early 2015. Should I cancel my auto-entrepreneur status now or change it to writer? I am not sure at the moment when I become an English teacher if I will be auto-entrepreneur or salaried.
What will happen to my health insurance if I cancel - will I be covered by my husband who is a salaried worker in France? Or if I change to a writer and don’t earn anything, will my mutuelle still continue?
