Retirement system for auto-entrepreneurs?

How does the retirement system and the points work for auto-entrepreneurs? I recently asked RSI and was told I needed to earn a minimum of 7,000 euros each trimester for a total of 28,000 a year in order to earn 4 points each year. Is this correct? If I earn the 28,000 a year, but have one or two trimesters that are less than 7,000 do I not earn all 4 points?
