Renting out principal residence in France over the summer

We have a second property that we will rent out, but over the summer we think we will get more income from renting out our main home (joint ownership) and staying in the other property.

Are there any special guidelines for this, I see that it is possible to rent your home for a maximum of 4 months.
How do we declare this? Already both of us are registered auto-entrepeneurs, but not sure that this is relevant in this case.
What are the financial implications/abattements etc?
Does your Siret number stay the same whatever your activities.
