Register as an auto-entrepreneur for freelance work?

I am already registered as an auto-entrepreneur. My wife has not worked since we moved here in 2009. She has recently started earning money for short term freelance writing. The money she earns is paid into her PayPal UK account. It’s paid in dollars, and PayPal converts the money into sterling, for which they charge a fee. She then moves it into her UK bank account.
The work is not permanent; it will probably last around three months. Does she need to register as an auto entrepreneur for this? Is there an auto entrepreneur category for freelance writing and, if so, what is it called? She wants to make sure she is doing things properly and legally.
