Property holding company
Hi Valerie, we are buying a small commercial property in France. This will give us some relatively passive investment income at some point in the future. We live in France and have a Carte de Sejour Temporaire -Visiteur (1 year visa). We own a house here also. It has been suggested we could/should buy this property through a business structure rather than personally. The building needs a lot of work over the coming years to maximise the return. It currently has 1 small tenant (around 15% of the building). We expect in time to lease out the balance of the building as it is developed. We do not expect an income from this for several years as we expect after costs and revenue the building/company will become cashflow positive in 3-5 years.
Can we set up the company on our current Visa now?
We plan to change to business visas at the renewal after next - around 16 months time, as we are looking at setting up gites at our current property.
