Proof of experience and qualifications for a macon?

My partner has recently joined me in France and is in the process of registering as an auto-entrepreneur as a macon. As this is a regulated trade in France, the Chambre de Metiers have asked for proof of his qualifications. He has been a self-employed builder for the last 30 years in the UK, but has no formal qualifications and because he was self-employed and ran his own business, he not does have any payslips, etc. What other paperwork will the Chambre de Metiers accept as proof that he has been a builder for the last 30 years?
