Percentage of tax and fees from portage salarial vs ME?

I currently make over 32,000 euros per year from copy editing clients based in the U.S. I have dual U.S. and Italian citizenship and reside in France. As I am just now reaching tax residency in France, I’m trying to decide whether I should reduce my hours in order to register as a micro-entrepreneur business in France or go through a Portage Salarial. I have read that the total cost of fees plus taxes with the Portage typically amounts to 50% of gross income. Does that sound accurate?

Because I would start the micro-entrepreneur this month, I don’t think I’d have any trouble staying under the turnover limit for 2016. But I also read somewhere that my annual salary could be estimated based on my monthly invoices and that I could be taxed as if I’ve gone over the turnover or will go over (at 51%). Can you comment on that at all?

I don’t need assistance with billing and so am trying to weigh the basic take-home salary options to see what makes the most sense.
