Options when starting up a business as an expat in France?

I am a Canadian expat with a three year carte de sejour, my husband has a job here in France. We have a current business in Canada and are interested in importing nutritional supplements into France.

  1. Is it easier/beneficial to use the Canadian business and have an entity in France or to create a business here in France? I understand if I create a new business I would have to exchange my carte de sejour for a carte de sejour commercant. Which I hear is lengthy and can be difficult.
  2. The other issue is that we need to ensure that the supplements conform to standards and are approved to be imported.  In order to do this, I need an account online with the DGCCRF and for that I need a sirene number. Is there a way for a Canadian business to obtain a SIRENE number?
  3. Is it possible to apply for a sirene, and TV intracommunaire number at the same time, or do I need an EORI number instead/also?
