Background: Male. Age 64. American. Living with my wife and working in France 16+ years, including recent 3 years of unemployment coverage. Social security number. My current titre de séjour expires in 2019. Carte vitale (CPAM) health coverage until the end of my unemployment coverage last month (September). Paid into French retirement scheme. I have paid all French and local taxes and social charges via my employer for all 16 years. Covered by US pension system for 30+ years. Registered with Pole Emploi for the past 3 years so I may benefit from ACCRE (5.4% social charges). I will be working out of my home office. As a VP of research for an international company I was out of France as much as in. I do, however, I need to work and my wife and I love it here.

I plan on applying for auto-entrepreneur first and then for early French retirement (partial - using French plus US credits - which I’m told by friends who have gone through the US credits it may take some time). Any problem with that order - auto-entrepreneur then retirement (e.g.,health coverage for auto-entrepreneur and then switching to CNAV for retirement, etc.)?
