Is it possible to pause a business while taking on a CDD ?

My husband has been full time self-employed for many years, in France. He declares revenue as a BIC prof. reel ( case 5KI ).
He is considering taking on a CDD with a local company for 5 months from July to December.
Can he stop the self-employed work while he has this CDD, and therefore only declare the January to June revenue from his self-employed activity (in next year’s tax return) ?
Is he allowed to keep the self-employed activity open even though he has a CDD ( as he may well go back to the self-employed activity after the CDD has ended ) ?
