Is it OK to setup my ceramic and art business from home?

I want to become an auto entrepreneur in France, with my main income coming from selling ceramic items and general art / craft works that I have made. Unless I can find someone to sell my work for me (unlikely, as most makers here sell their own work from their own premises, or markets, or expos) I will need to sell from my atelier here at the house, as well as maybe doing one or more of the local markets. What regulations are there for using part of the house in this way? Would I need to apply for a change of use, and if so, from whom, and is this likely to cost me extra? We’re rural rather than town, if that makes a difference.

I have also frequently been asked if I will teach people English, and also teach other various craft skills. How flexible am I able to be with the work I end up doing, after having made the initial possibly quite narrow declaration.  Or - how vague can I be initially - yet still become registered.
