Is health insurance really not needed for a profession libérale visa?

I submitted my profession libérale visa application three days ago, and the list of documents to bring to my TLScontact appointment is much shorter than I anticipated. It does not ask for proof of health insurance for my first year (or even my first few months) in France.

Is it really true that I do not need private health insurance when I first arrive in France?

Assuming my business is registered upon arrival, when would I typically become eligible for French health coverage and eventually receive a Carte Vitale? If I were to incur medical expenses before receiving the Carte Vitale, would those expenses be eligible for retroactive reimbursement once my health coverage is established?

I do not anticipate any medical needs, but I would like to understand how the transition into the French healthcare system generally works for someone arriving on a profession libérale visa.
