Is auto-entrepreneur the best option for teaching English?

I have recently moved to France with the intention of teaching English. I have a CertTESOL qualification. I am confused by conflicting advice from both friends and books regarding how to set up a business. Many schools state that teachers must be set up as auto-entrepreneurs. At the moment my wife and I have very expensive BUPA private health insurance. Can I be an auto-entrepreneur and still qualify for the Carte Vitale? If it is the best option, what is the process for setting up and is it costly?
