Is auto-entrepreneur right for a recruitment business?

I am arriving in France soon to work and need to know what company structure would suit me best. I have a UK limited company currently and live in Spain. I pay corporation tax in the UK. After my UK accountant has deducted all business expenses, the rest is declared in Spain as my income. I operate as an Autonomo and invoice the UK company.

I pay Spanish income tax on this amount. Apart from living in Spain, all my work (which is in recruitment) is done via the internet in the UK, Switzerland and Germany. No work is done in Spain and nor will it be done in France either.

  1. My declared income last year was £21,600. It will be less this year but could fluctuate. I have a wife who does some work for me, and 2 children. Would it be financially better for us if she remained officially unemployed or had some kind of role with my company?
  2. Can you tell me what would be the best way for me to operate?
  3. What would the costs be in terms or tax and social charges?
  4. Are there any other things to consider?
