Is a proofreader considered liberale or artisanal?

I would like to set up an auto-entrepreneur business in France offering proofreading services (not translation). Basically I will be offering a service to people and organisations etc. to proofread documents in English only. This will be run from home.

I know that I can register as an auto-entrepreneur online but have no idea about whether I would be considered liberale or artisanal? In addition, would I be liable for any payments if I am not bringing in any income? I am trying to understand the system but am finding it incredibly overwhelming.

I live with my partner who is in full-time employment with a French company. Would he be liable for anything even though he has no involvement in my work? Do you have any simple steps that I can follow as am anxious to set up as soon as possible and my French is very bad?
