I am an Aussie who has fallen in love with a property in the Charente district. I wish to buy it and run it as holiday gite and expand to included horse agistment and bed and breakfast. I have the means to buy the property outright but at this point would prefer to try to obtain a mortgage in euro’s on it - preferably with no penalty clause to pay out completely if I choose to. It is already set up as SCI. I am struggling to find a definite answer to the probability of me being able to get permanent residency. There is a chance I could get a British passport, I haven’t looked into that previously but my mother was English, born and bred and only moved to Australia after WW2, though I will have to check this out on my return to Australia. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
