How to add an extra activity to an auto-entrepreneur?

I read on a question posted here that I can go to Chambre de Metiers in person to add an activity to my auto-entreprise, and you recommended that over sending a form by post because the latter often causes your principal activity to be overridden.

Is this the case?

Also, is there anywhere else I can make this change, because my local Chambre de Metiers is quite far away.
