How do we setup a chambre d’hotes in France?

We are in our late 60’s and have lived in France permanently for almost 20 years. We receive state and personal pensions from the UK, have carte vitales and a mutual. To keep ourselves and our minds active during the summer months we thought of doing a little bed and breakfast (chambre d’hotes) or perhaps self catering. This would represent a small percentage of our annual income. Do I register as an micro-entrepreneur/auto-entrepreneur or something else?
