How do I setup an association?

I am set up as an art teacher and have a group of people who want me to start an art class in a local village. I can use a village hall, but an association has to be set up. The group of people want to do this and organise other activities. Can the group of people set up an association and then book me and pay me per hour on a regular basis? How is an association set up?
