I have a English as a foreign language (TEFL) certification. I intend to teach English in France for few hours a week and need to start marketing.

  1. Do I need to register as an auto-entrepreneur with the French authorities or chambre des metiers?
  2. Do I have to engage an accountant to help me file tax returns?
  3. What would be the tax year for the business, January to December?
  4. I know French businesses follow the Droit Individuel Formation (DIF) training scheme, where they pay into a special fund etc. for training purposes. Do I need to register for this DIF scheme to be able to teach English to company employees so they have access to their DIF budget?
  5. Do I need to obtain professional indemnity insurance?
  6. Any other information I need to know regarding pursuing TEFL activity in France?

Turnover, perhaps 500 euros per month and initial costs around 400 euros. I’ll be working from my home, at client homes and perhaps at company premises.
