I am looking at registering as an auto-entrepreneur to test the business opportunities in France. I have been self-employed in the UK for the past 10 years fitting kitchens, bathrooms, plastering, tiling and general building work and property maintenance, working for private clients and within retirement properties. I have been asked to renovate a property for an English couple I know and a couple of other people I have met.

  1. What is the best code to register as?
  2. Do I just need liability insurance as per the UK?
  3. Is there a personal allowance you can earn before tax as per UK, e.g. earn 30,000 euros personal allowance 10,000 euros pay tax on 20,000 euros?
  4. What other charges need to be paid?
  5. Is a letter from my accountant good enough proof I have been trading as a business?
  6. Do you have to file monthly, quarterly or yearly for tax purposes?
