How do I register a launderette business in France?

I am hoping to start a small launderette business in France but I am stumbling across a few problems. My husband has been registered as an auto-entrepreneur running a property care business since 2009 and I have been registered as his conjoint collaborateur.

I tried to register the business via the online site guichet-enterpirses.fr on 3 Janurary 2016. I submitted all the documents requested and my submission was validated. Three weeks later I had heard nothing so I contacted our local CCI (given to me as the contact by guichet-enterprises), quoting the reference number from my submission. I was told that nothing had been received by them. They said that I also had to submit a hard copy of everything. I duly did so and they said they would call me. In the week that followed I heard nothing so I phoned and was promised a return call. It didn’t arrive.

Today I was passed to a different person who said that I could not register a laverie automatique (Mise a disposition de lave linge et sechoirs en libre service) under the regime micro-entrepreneur. When I asked why, they said they would need to verify this.

  1. Can a small laverie en libre service be registered under the regime micro-enterprise?
  2. Is Chambre de Commerce the right place for my inquiries or should it be Chambre de Metiers?
  3. Will it be obligatory for me to undertake a stage before starting the business or can I use my experience in running the office for husband’s business as a get out clause?
