How do I register a decorator business in France?

I wish to start a decorator business in France. I am fully qualified to City and Guilds and have been self-employed for 40 years in the UK. We have bought a house in France and have started moving in. I have some work in the new year, and wish to become a registered business - I need to fill a form and also what is required, e.g. proof of identification, proof of house ownership?
