How do I prove experience to register as an auto entrepreneur painter?

I notice in lots of your answers you say either a qualification, or at least 3 years experience is required to register for a trade such as a painter. I have been a painter for over 20 years with a firm in the UK, but I don’t have any qualifications. Will a letter of reference written in English from the owner of the company do as a way to qualify for registration in France as an auto entrepreneur?
