Health insurance and ayant-droit

After moving to France, I signed up as an auto-entrepreneur (prof. lib.) mid December. This is my only source of income. I’ve already sent out some bills and I feel positive about my income for rest of the year and beyond. My boyfriend signed up as an auto-entrepreneur as well, but at the moment it is still not sure whether his business will work and thus whether he will have any income this year. Are things already a bit more clear about the impact on your health insurance if you don’t have any income for a while? I’ve heard something about a new rule that you should have a minimum (yearly) revenue to stay insured. Do you perhaps know anything about this?

My auto-entrepreneur was set up first, with him added as an ayant-droit. If he does not have any or sufficient income for a year or stops his auto-entrepreneur, will he automatically stay health insured as my ayant-droit? (Neither one of us has yet received a Carte Vitale). Are there, apart from the optional mutuelle, any extra payments to be made by an ayant-droit in order to be health insured? (We were told that this is the case, but haven’t found any evidence yet) .
