Finding a place to rent

I’ve been trying to rent a place for almost two months now, and it seems to be extremally difficult if you don’t work for an French company.
Both me and my wife work as contractors for international companies, and none have presence in France.
We have relatives here wiling to be our vouch for us, but even so we keep being rejected :(
Any advice on how to proceed or what can I do to rent something?
