Fencing and decking - auto-entrepreneur?

We have been in France two years now and my husband’s work has been renovating our house which is nearly done. He wishes to now set up in business and hopes to work a few days a week as an installer of fencing and decking which he did in England for 12 years before we came to France. I would like to know if he can register as an auto-entreprener for this business and also whether he would have to join any other professional organisations with this profession. I wouldn’t expect it to come under the same classification as builders, but am not sure.
