Experience for building and renovation work?

I’d like to register as an auto-entrepreneur doing small-scale building and renovation work. This is a change from my former profession (blacksmith) when living in England, but I have been renovating my own barn here in France for the past 4 years. Could this experience count in place of a qualification?
