Does a NAF code automatically determine your type of activity?

When one chooses to describe one’s activity on the Declaration de Debut d’Activite, is every choice already associated with an activite liberale / commerciale / artisanale or is this something the applicant also has to clarify by selecting on top of the page which type of activity he does - meaning, of course, the tax rate which will be applied?

This is confusing because I was categorised as activite commerciale when I chose my specific business activity, but then I realised I could click on the other two possibilities - namely, liberale (CIPAV or RSI) or artisanale. Since it is difficult to understand what constitutes each of those 3 types to begin with, obviously one’s NAF code is not only significant for statistical purposes.
