Do you have to register for l’Assurance Maladie?

When you register your business as an auto-entrepreneur, do you have to organise and re-register the health care side of things? At the moment I’m registered and covered with L’Assurance Maladie under my husband’s name and his social security number and so are my children (we’re expats under French contract). I have my own carte vitale with my name on it but the registration info was organised through the company my husband works for and in his name with his social security. I don’t have a social security number.  We are also, as a family, on a very good Mutuelle health care plan which covers just about everything.

So my question is, do I have to change the status of the above if I register as an AE.  The purpose of me starting a business is just to do something from home part time and I’m questioning whether it’s all worthwhile if it means me having to change my status with L’Assurance Maladie. Also if I’m paying social contributions with the auto-entrepreneur scheme and we move away from France in a couple of years, do I loose the money contributed in terms of pension?
