Do I need to register as an auto-entrepreneur to open a cattery in France?

We are in the process of setting up a small cattery business in France, however there are a couple of things that we are unsure of. Is running a cattery an Activité Commerciale, Artisanale or Libérale? What is the NAF code for a cattery? We have been in contact with the Direction des Services Vétérinaires de la Charente and have got the paperwork which we are completing at the moment.

I have also passed the exam for the certificat de capacité animaux de compagnie which you need to run a cattery in France. We are going to the DSV office this week to submit the paperwork, but do we need to register as auto-entrepreneur before we do this or can we put siret en cours in the box for siret number?
