Do I need to register as a micro entrepreneur?
I have retired to France, and lived here since July 2018. Our joint income is under the annual allowance. Last year I did some freelance work for some of my old clients. My questions are - do I need to register as a micro entrepreneur? Can I add this income (about £5k) to my income declaration and not set up a micro entrepreneur? We are still under the annual joint allowance even with these fees added in. If I do set up as a ME and pay social taxes - in theory this is go towards my pension, health cover etc which I am already benefiting from. So I need some clear guidance as to the best way forward please. Don’t want to defraud anyone but likewise don’t want the hassle of setting up a company for such a small amount if it it is not necessary.
