Deciding which spouse should register as an auto-entrepreneur?

I (an Australian married to a frenchman) have been trying to register as an auto-entrepreneur. However, its been an 7 month process and I’m still not registered. I tried inscribing for pole-emploi after my french seasonal job finished last November. All good but FIRST I needed my own carte vitale (have been on my husbands’ for past 2 yrs). I am also keen to be inscribed in order to be eligible for the ACCRE reduction, so it seemed beneficial to wait for my own carte vitale. Well that’s been a 5 month nightmare. Now CPAM claim it will be at least another 2 months before I receive the card. In 2 weeks we will both be starting work again, and won’t be eligible for pole-emploi anyway!

So, my husband are I are thinking we might register in his name, and he can manage the business (on-line sales). He is registered and receiving chomage for the last 5 months. He could register today for both auto-entrepreneur and ACCRE.

Will having auto-entrepreneur status whilst also being salaried affect his securite sociale?  (We don’t make any voluntary payments for mutuelle.) Will he still need to get his own insurance? (thankyou for the links you posted for cheap insurance)

At the end of this summer season (October) our work will cease again.  If the business is not earning alot and we can’t find much work again, will he still be eligible for chomage?

Is there any point applying to ACCRE when he will be salaried again soon?  Will the tax exonerations for the business continue once he returns to work?
