Contracts with freelancers

I have a contract that has been written by a lawyer between my company and the freelancers who work for me. The contract is written in French and English (my business language) and must be signed in both languages (so freelancers can’t say they didn’t understand the contract they signed in French).

Is it OK for both parties to sign the contract digitally? Or do they need to be printed & signed to hold in French law?

And if they need to be printed & signed, should there be two copies of each language (total 4 copies), signed by each party? I’m hoping to avoid this as this would be 40 pages or so per freelancer. And I’ll have 10 or so freelancers next year! That’s a lot of pages.

Thanks for your help,
