Combining US Social Security pension and freelance work

I am 70 years old, and wish to pursue a visa that will permit me to continue freelancing as a consultant to US companies while expanding my market to French subsidiaries of US companies. I believe the micro/auto-entrepreneur visa would satisfy this. However, I don’t plan to continue this work forever, and I would want to wind down my business as I turn 75. My current social security payments are more than 25K Euro per year, and are scheduled to increase at the US rate of inflation. Given that I may wish to pursue permanent residency, 1) should I pursue the micro-entrepreneur visa?, and 2) what must I be mindful of to be able to ‘retire’ and wind down the business?
Thank you,
Craig
