Changing visa status

One of my clients, whom I’ve been working with on my auto entrepeneur visa has offered me a CDI. As I understand it, the auto entrepeneur visa does not allow me to work with a CDI, thus I will need to change my status. So my questions are:

1: If I am waiting for my change of status visa to be processed, can I begin working on the CDI?
2: If not, is it reasonable to do a temporary freelance contract, with them writing up a contract saying that i will get the CDI on condition that i receive the new visa. Is that something that you have seen in your experience?

How would you recommend approaching this situation?
