Can I obtain a TVA number even though I am exempt from TVA?

One of my clients is requesting a VAT number in order to ensure that I am NOT charged VAT. Please could you let me know whether it is possible to obtain a VAT number, even though I am exempt from VAT as a micro-entreprise - and if so, how do I do this? Thank you for your help!
