Can I change the operating name of a SARL?

Our SARL business in France started in 2010 and has the EU Trademark which we bought when we started the SARL. We provide coaching and human resources consultancy services. Recently a French based organisation with the same name, in a similar business is threatening litigation. We have the trademark but they have been in business in France much longer.

  1. Can I change the operating name of the SARL to another name and what are the costs and implications of this?
  2. The other option would be to close it down (but fees are 1,800 euros) and start the professional independent set-up as I am working alone. Can this be done without penalties?
  3. Also, which regime has less administrative requirements (paperwork! this seems to be constant with the SARL) as I understand the tax liability for both structures is similar?
  4. Is there an option to register a DBA, or doing business as as one can in the USA, where it is simply a matter of filing and online form saying we are now doing business as another name?
