Can an auto-entrepreneur employ his wife?

I am looking for some information as to whether it would be better to be registered as a conjoint on my husband’s registration or for him to employ me on a casual basis as and when required.

We have been French resident since last April (2009) and have about 15-20 years before we retire so I’m not sure whether there is a benefit to being registered as a Conjoint as any pension rights would be minimal because of the number of working years we have left. Although it would be more expensive per hour, it may be less expensive to be an employee of the business over a year but I’m not sure whether this is possible. Any help or experiences would be appreciated.
